- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Australia.

→ Free online application for eVisitor visa.
→ Same site: immi.homeaffairs.gov.au
→ Valid for 12 months (multiple entries), stay up to 3 months per visit.
→ Processing: usually instant or within hours. - Visitor visa (subclass 600) required (for nationalities not eligible for ETA or eVisitor, e.g. India, China, Russia, Brazil, South Africa, most African countries, most South American countries, many Middle Eastern and Asian countries not listed above)
→ Apply online or at Australian embassy/consulate.
→ Cost: AUD 190–1,000+ depending on stream.
→ Stay: usually 3, 6 or 12 months (single or multiple entry).
→ Processing time: weeks to months – apply early.

3. Length of Stay
- ETA / eVisitor: up to 3 months per visit (multiple entries within 12 months validity).
- Visitor visa (subclass 600): 3–12 months per entry (depending on grant; extensions possible in some cases).
- Extensions: apply online before expiry if justified (e.g. medical, family); not guaranteed for tourism.
- You cannot work or study long-term without separate visas/permits.
- Frequent visa runs may lead to refusal or visa cancellation.
4. Other Important Requirements
- Proof of onward/return ticket — very often checked at check-in and immigration.
- Proof of sufficient funds, accommodation and genuine visitor intent — frequently requested (especially for visitor visa or longer stays).
- No COVID-19 vaccination, testing, or quarantine required (rules fully removed since 2022).
- Customs: Declare cash over AUD 10,000 (or equivalent), restricted items (food, plants, medicines, weapons, etc.). Strict biosecurity rules – fill out Incoming Passenger Card on arrival.
- Fingerprinting & photo: taken on arrival for most non-Australian nationals.
