Cambodia Entry Rules & Requirements

1. Passport Requirements
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Cambodia.
- It should have at least two blank pages for entry stamps and visa sticker (if applicable).
- Machine-readable passports are required for e-Visa and visa on arrival.
- Passport must not be damaged or expired – immigration officers can refuse entry.
2. Visa or Visa Exemption – What You Need Depends on Your Nationality
Cambodia offers visa exemption, e-Visa, or visa on arrival for short-term stays to citizens of most countries.
- Visa-exempt nationalities (10 ASEAN + 1 additional country as of 2026): Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Seychelles, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
→ No visa required for tourism/business.
→ Allowed stay: usually 30 days (some countries 14–30 days – check official list).
→ Extensions: possible up to 12 months total (apply at Immigration Department).

→ Valid for 3 months from issuance, stay up to 30 days (single entry).
→ Processing: 3 working days (urgent option available).
→ Print the approval – show at immigration. - Visa on Arrival (VoA) (available at all international airports and most land borders)
→ Available to almost all nationalities not eligible for visa exemption (i.e. same as e-Visa eligible countries).
→ Obtain directly at the border/airport.
→ Fee: USD 30 (tourist) or USD 35 (business) + possible small service fee.
→ Required documents: passport photo and cash in USD.
→ e-Visa is faster and avoids queues – strongly recommended over VoA.

3. Length of Stay
- Visa exemption: 14–30 days depending on nationality (extendable).
- e-Visa / Visa on Arrival: up to 30 days (extendable once for another 30 days or longer for business).
- Extensions: apply at local Immigration Office in Phnom Penh (fee ~USD 45–300 depending on duration).
- You cannot work or study long-term without separate visas/permits.
- Frequent visa runs may lead to refusal after several times.
4. Other Important Requirements
Cambodia uses the Cambodia e-Arrival system (digital arrival card) to submit immigration, customs and health information online before arrival. It is strongly recommended to complete it in advance to speed up arrival formalities and reduce time at the airport/border. Use the official portal: arrival.gov.kh. You will receive a QR code to present on arrival (keep it on your phone; a screenshot/PDF backup is recommended).
- Proof of onward/return ticket — very often checked at check-in or immigration.
- Proof of sufficient funds and accommodation — may be requested (especially for longer stays or VoA).
- No COVID-19 vaccination, testing, or quarantine required (rules fully removed since 2022).
- Customs: Declare cash over USD 10,000 (or equivalent), restricted items (drones, certain medicines, food, plants, weapons, etc.). Fill out customs declaration on arrival.
- Fingerprinting & photo: taken on arrival for most non-Cambodian nationals.
5. Practical Tips for a Smooth Trip
- Apply for e-Visa online at least 1 week before travel – much faster and more convenient than Visa on Arrival.
- Complete Cambodia e-Arrival in advance to speed up entry formalities (QR code).
